About
In the past few years, The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) has successfully co-organized numerous US-China conferences in China, with the aim to foster the development of strong linkages and collaboration between aging researchers in the United States and China.
We are very happy to announce that GSA will co-organize the international conference with the CUHK-NCKU Joint Centre for Positive Social Science and the Chinese University of Hong Kong during May 19 – 20, 2018. A publication workshop with the theme “How to Publish in GSA Journals” will be conducted by Dr Laura Sands, GSA’s Editor-in-Chief of Innovation in Aging and Dr Rachel Pruchno, Editor-in-Chief of The Gerontologist. The conference expects about 200 attendees.
2018 Theme
This conference will provide a differentiated perspective on individual constructions of old age and aging in different life domains (e.g., financial, housing, religion). In combination with the domain-specific approach, this conference will take an international format to investigate the phenomenon of aging by comparing individuals of different age groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and countries with regard to their views on and attitudes towards aging. Identifying and explaining specific patterns among different populations for domain-specific views on aging provide insights into how societal contexts and individual experiences interact with each other in the aging process.
